Thanks for joining us July 2021 at the UHills Community Center!
We learned about food insecurity, sustainability, and home horticulture, and raised more than $15,000 for UCI’s Fresh Hub student food bank.
Let’s do it again.
In 2021, the following groups collaborated to bring UHills residents information and resources related to food insecurity, home horticulture, and sustainability: FRESH Hub Student Food Bank, City of Irvine, HOOT (Helping Our Owls Thrive) Community Group, UC-ANR (University of California Division of Agricultural and Natural Resources), South Coast Research and Extension Center, Tanaka Farms, UHills Sustainability Committee, UHills Community Safety and Diversity, and learn more about BlueBarrel Rainwater Catchment System and IRWD (Irvine Ranch Water District) . UHills HRB , ICHA, O’Connell Landscape, and WM.
PLANT a seed from the seed bank in a PEAT pot and
TAKE it home in a COMPOSTABLE bag to repot later in a free fabric GROW BAG and WIN a Southern California growing guide
LEARN about food insecurity, CONTAINER gardening and home CANNING or “ASK a gardener” and bring a COOKBOOK to exchange and SHARE your garden successes in a produce display and SPIN the enzyme composter and see the WORM bin
We acknowledge that this event takes place on the ancestral, unceded, and shared territory of the Acjachemen and Tongva peoples.
Cannot attend but wish to have seeds and peak pot and compostable bag.

Thanks Andrea for coordinating this community fresh food event. I plan to host a food canning table plus the simplicity of drying home-grown herbs.
